I had so much fun shooting at Brookside Gardens again, this time with the beautiful Fender family! We met up just a few days after the official first day of spring and got to see some early spring blooms, including camellias and a whole sea of trumpet daffodils. It was wonderful to see the colors of spring start to come alive, especially when paired with the vivid tones of Malynda’s and Lydia’s dresses!
One thing I love about working with families is getting to capture the different personalities of kids as they grow up! Lydia was wild and adventurous, constantly eager to explore new areas of the gardens. Meanwhile, Kieran was quiet and camera-shy, at times hiding from my camera. I am a huge proponent of letting kids guide the flow of the session and capturing the unique aspects that make them who they are! While I will always strive to get at least a few traditional shots of everyone smiling (or at least looking!) at the camera, sometimes kids just want to move around, and that’s more than okay! We made sure to incorporate some fun candid sequences in our session, and I just adore the relaxed, joyful photos of Lydia and Kieran running and twirling around the gardens with their parents.
Speaking of twirling, I was absolutely obsessed with Malynda’s gorgeous orange wrap dress and the wonderful movement of the fabric. I may have asked her to twirl around at least half a dozen times in the daffodil garden, and as you’ll see in the photos below, she looked like a garden goddess!
Enjoy these happy spring photos!
