I had the best time photographing the beautiful King family in Old Town Alexandria! This was such a fun family, with mom and dad, four siblings, and two daughters-in-law. Fun fact: older brothers Michael and William are fraternal twins, and both of them got married during the pandemic!
Younger daughter Lilly, who has a background in costume design, did an amazing job styling the family of eight! She picked out a gorgeous palette of rich creams, tans, browns, and greens that were perfect for fall. I honestly felt like I was directing a fashion show at times – I’m so thrilled with how well the different colors and textures coordinated with one another! We were able to get some wonderful group shots, as well as some individual couple/solo portraits. Make sure to scroll to the end to see a few cameos from their adorable Saint Berdoodle pup, Chief! 😉
If you haven’t had the chance to check out South Old Town Alexandria, you’re missing out! Just south of the main King Street shopping district (along Roberdeau Park and Shipyard Park), this area has gotten a lot of local attention recently, with a few fantastic new restaurants opening up during the pandemic. Manuel and I have been fortunate enough to try Ada’s on the River, Barca Pier & Wine Bar, and Hummingbird, and we’ve loved all three! Plus, as you can see from the session photos, this area features some gorgeous backdrops, ranging from cool waterfront views, manicured lawns, and charming brick courtyards. I highly recommend stopping by the next time you’re in Old Town!
