As soon as I met Aurora and Tristan by the Market Square fountain for their Old Town family session, I knew I was in for a fun one! Tristan had the most infectious and boundless energy, which made for some awesome candid shots between the more traditional photos we took. He definitely wins points for the most enthusiastic, energetic smile I’ve ever seen – just scroll through some of the photos below! 🙂 I also loved Aurora’s gorgeous dark blue sweater dress and tall boots, which perfectly captured the start of fall in Alexandria. We had a great time strolling around Market Square and some of my favorite photos spots together!
When it comes to photo locations in Alexandria, you really can’t go wrong with Old Town! It was the first “tourist” location I visited when I first found out I was moving here, so I’m probably biased, but there’s just something so charming and nostalgic about Old Town. Between the rich red bricks, the waterfront, and the colonial style buildings, you really get the whole package! Manuel and I always plan a dinner and stroll along King Street when guests come to visit from out of town so that they can experience it with us! 🙂
Speaking of dinner, if you’re looking for a place to grab a bite after a photo session, here are some of our recommendations:
- Gadsby’s Tavern (awesome historical restaurant that dates back to 1770, and frequented by George Washington himself!!)
- Blackwall Hitch (great food and gorgeous waterfront views)
- Vaso’s Mediterranean Bistro (pretty self explanatory from the name but it’s delicious and the portion sizes are super generous!), and
- Columbia Firehouse (converted from the historical Alexandria firehouse and has the most unique indoor brick and glass atrium – I daresay it’s the most Instagrammable brunch spot in town! 😉 )
Let me know in the comments if you’d add any other restaurants to this list!
Enjoy~!
