In honor of the first day of fall, I’m dedicating a whole blog post to fall’s most ubiquitous style item: sweaters! I can’t think of any other piece of clothing that invokes the coziness of fall, the new crispness in the air, and the beginning of falling leaves and changing colors. After all, it’s called “sweater weather” for a reason! 😉
Here are few easy ways to incorporate a cozy sweater into your fall photos!
1. Pair with classic dark skinny jeans
I love pairing a stylish sweater with pair of dark skinnies for an effortlessly chic and put-together look. Jeans with a dark wash, slim fit, and minimal distressing will help keep the focus on your sweater. This means you can play up fun sweater details like ruffled sleeves or a unique ribbed texture! As a bonus, with jeans, you don’t have to worry about squatting and bending over while playing with your kid(s) during your session!
Pro tip: To give some waist emphasis, I recommend tucking (or French-tucking) your sweater – it can make a world of difference!
2. Pair with a retro skirt
Denim skirts are a fun alternative to plain ol’ denim jeans, and a buttoned front adds some retro appeal. To keep the whole outfit from looking too structured, I paired the denim skirt here with a thinner, drapier sweater. I call this my gingerbread woman sweater, and the rich golden-tan color is just perfect for fall! 🙂 This look would also work great with a classic plaid skirt or faux suede skirt! Feel free to add tights or leggings as the temperatures dip.
3. Opt for a sweater dress
I firmly believe that every woman should have at least one sweater dress in her closet – they are truly a one-and-done item! Just pair with tights and booties and you are ready to go! A good sweater dress feels like wearing a cozy blanket, while looking cute and put-together at the same time! What more could you want from a sweater? 🙂
