I had the honor of taking these maternity portraits for Sommer and Stephen last month at Green Spring Gardens. There’s something so special about taking maternity photos for a couple expecting their first child. You can really feel the joy, excitement, and tenderness as they prepare to welcome their precious little one into this world!

Sommer and Stephen are two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, and they were so fun to photograph as well. Their easy smiles and laughter made my job a breeze! As a former Air Force couple, they had moved around all over the country, and were fairly new to the area, so I suggested meeting at Green Spring Gardens, and it turned out to be absolutely perfect. It was a quiet early fall morning, with just a hint of that wonderful crisp fall weather but still warm enough to be comfortable. Other than the occasional dog walker and nature photographer, we had the Gardens almost all to ourselves, which was awesome!

Sommer looked like a total Disney princess in both her gowns: a gorgeous emerald green mermaid gown that showed off her baby bump to perfection, and a floaty pastel blue chiffon gown that caught the morning light beautifully. She absolutely took my breath away when she changed into her second gown (a $35 Amazon find of all things!), and the solo portraits we took in front of the trellis are some of my favorite maternity portraits ever! She also wins points for the quickest outfit change I’ve had during a session – courtesy of her dancing background! 😉
