It’s always a treat to get to photograph the Gardner family! This is my third straight year working with Aurora, and we like to joke that every time we take her family photos, there’s a new member of the family for me to meet! We started out with just her and Tristan (see their adorable Old Town Alexandria session here). The next year we got to include her fiance Duane for some wonderful, leafy-fun at their home in Haymarket (see their session here). And finally, this year, we’ve added baby Wyatt to the crew, with a baby girl coming later this year!
As we were getting ready to step outside for photos, Aurora showed me the framed photo gallery wall by the stairs in her home. She explained that she’s had professional photos taken with Tristan every single year since he was just one, which I found incredible. “Time passes so quickly!” she remarked. “I was just looking at the photos we took last year and it struck me how much Tristan has grown and how different he looks from just one year ago!”
I’ve loved watching Aurora’s beautiful little family grow, and it’s also been awesome to see Tristan get older and taller each year (we’ve agreed that next year he’s going to be as tall or taller than I am!). As a Northern VA family photographer, it’s rare to get the opportunity to photograph families year after year, due to the transient nature of military life and other regional job opportunities. So I always especially cherish the families that I get to see again and again. I always look forward to working with the Gardners, and I already can’t wait for next year’s session!
